How can I book the UZHISS accommodation?

You can book your UZHISS housing when you are applying for the program. To find out more about how to apply to the UZHISS 2024, please visit the application page:

Application Page

If you would like to book your own accommodation for the duration of the summer school, simply select "no housing" when submitting your application.

The rooms available as part of your UZHISS package have limited availability. We operate on a first come, first served basis and allocate requested rooms on a rolling basis. You will know for sure if a room is available when you receive our offer letter. The email with our offer for the course will state if you have also been assigned housing with your admission to the program.

Where will I be staying?

When booking your UZHISS accommodation you can choose between several different locations. Each location comes with different amenities and is priced at a different price range. Scroll down to see the different locations where you can book your housing.

Please note that availability for all locations is limited and requested rooms are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

The UZHISS housing is part of the student housing managed by the non-profit WOKO. The rooms are part of student housing and are therefore comparable to renting a room in a shared apartment. Cleaning staff is on-site daily, but the upkeep of the bedroom is the responsibility of the tenant.

When can I move in? When do I need to move out?

All UZHISS rooms will be ready to move into your room on Monday, 30 June 2025, at 12.00 p.m. (noon). It is possible to arrive later, but we do not recommend arriving any later than in the early afternoon of 30 June 2025.

The first summer school event takes place on Monday, 30 June 2025, in the evening, and the last event ends on Friday, 18 July 2025, in the evening. You can find more information by following this link: Practical Information.

You will need to leave your room (tidied and emptied of all your belongings) on Sunday, 20 July 2025, at 12.00 p.m. (noon) at the latest.

The UZHISS housing is part of the student housing managed by the non-profit WOKO. The rooms are part of student housing and are therefore comparable to renting a room in a shared apartment. Cleaning staff is on-site daily, but the upkeep of the bedroom is the responsibility of the student renting the room. If any damages occur or the room is left disproportionately dirty, UZH reserves the right to charge a damage/cleaning fee directly to the student.

Is the accomodation catered?

UZHISS accommodations do not include any meals. In the student housing you will have access to shared kitchen amenities and will be provided with all necessary kitchen equipment. Additionally, you will receive a student meal card that gives you access to the discounted student rate at the UZH cafeteria on the main campus.

During the summer period, the UZH cafeteria is open 10.00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m. and serves hot and cold lunch. For more information please refer to the cafeteria's webpage: UZH cafeteria

Check out the FAQ for a guide on where to eat and how to make your money last as long as possible.

How much does the housing cost?

The pricing for the UZHISS accommodation ranges from 950 to 1,100 Swiss francs for the duration of the UZHISS program. For specific dates, please refer to the section above.

All three options have limited availability and are awarded on a rolling basis. Students may request which option they would like to book.
